Webdesk, TNI Mekhliganj 2nd August 2017: When the trend in the state of West Bengal is that the educated youth has to migrate to other states in search of work, Kuchlibari village shows a different scenario. The youth here are becoming self-dependent by indulging in Mushroom Farming after getting trained in the production process. The youths like Bullet Roy, Dipak Roy, and Sanjay Roy are now earning well for their livelihood on Mushroom Farming. The local Agro organization named ‘Teestajaan Krishok Kalyan Sangha” has brought trainers from North Bengal Agricultural University to train the youth here at Mekhliganj. Mushroom farmer Bullet Roy told TNI that there is huge profit margin in mushroom. Further, the mushroom farming is done throughout the year hence the profit margin can get quadrupled. However, the problem in Mekhliganj is that there is not the permanent market here. The farmers have to travel to Siliguri, hence the profit is becoming lesser. In this regard, the BDO of Mekhliganj Mr. Birupakkho Mitra told TNI that if the mushroom farmers in Mekhliganj come forward with their problems then the administration will try its utmost to help them come out of their problem.
